Before starting this process, the user logged in must have the rights to add a new local printer! If they are only a member of the "users" group, this will not work, they must be an Administrator!
1. Add a new printer from the Add Printer icon in the Printers Group.
2. Hit Next to the "Welcome to the Add Printer Wizzard
3. Choose local printer, but *DO NOT* automaticly detect it via P&P.
4. At the bottom of the select printer port screen, choose "Create a new
port:"
5. Pick Standard TCP/IP Port and hit Next.
6. The Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard will start, click next to get
past the welcome screen.
7. Tell it the IP of the network printer, as of Nov 08, 2001 it is 192.168.1.200,
and click next.
8. Close the add standard TCP/IP printer port wizard by clicking finish.
9. *WAIT* until the full screen of the Add Printer Wizard comes back up, *DO
NOT* click prematutely or you will have to rename the printer and set it up
again from every workstation!!!
10. Choose the type of printer, a HP LaserJet 4, and click next.
11. Replace the existing printer driver if it asks you.
12. Name the printer "HP LJ 4 Network"
13. You likely do want your windows based programs to use this as the default
printer, so click next.
14. *DO NOT* share this printer, this would be very bad if you chose to do this!
15. Feel free to print a test page, and then click Finish to close the wizard.
Note that the test page will not start to print until after you hit finish!
16. If the test page printed fine, then click OK to close the troubleshooting
wizard.
Note that setting up any other OS should be similar in setup.
